My Experience at the World Championships 2023 in Texas

Attending the World Space Modelling Championships 2023 in Texas was an unforgettable experience that offered a unique blend of excitement, challenge, and inspiration. From the moment I arrived, I was immersed in an environment filled with talented hobbyists, dedicated organisers, and passionate spectators.
It all started back in the Spring of 2022 when I was scouted by a member of the Great British Senior Team at a school rocketry competition, who encouraged me to attend the UK Nationals in Salisbury. I prepared for that event in the lead up, and when it finally came to it, I placed 3rd in Precision Payload – S2/p, winning myself a bronze medal at my first UK Nationals.
This, and my secure scoring in the other categories of Space Modelling, meant that I had qualified for Team GB, and was selected for the World Championship Junior Team of 2023. Many months of excitement, preparation, organisation, and testing later and it was the evening of the 29th of June 2023.
With travel and accommodation all booked, all that was left was to do was pack our rockets.
